Michael Heffernan has a private practice limited to restorative dentistry in London and is included on the Prosthodontic Specialist Register. He qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1990 and subsequently spent 2 years working in oral surgery at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. After some time in general practice he completed a 3 year full-time Masters Degree programme in Fixed, Removable and Implant-retained Prosthodontics utilising most of the major dental implant systems. His thesis investigated the Relative Translucency of Ceramics for which he won the John J. Sharry Prosthodontics Research Prize from the American College of Prosthodontists (2001). 

To further his training in implant dentistry he spent 18 months at the University of Florida in a dedicated Implant Fellowship provided by the International Team for Implantology.
